Emergency Care and Recovery Centres (ECRCs)
The Krishnagiri Emergency Care and Recovery Centre (ECRC) Offers multidisciplinary, person-centered hospital based care for homeless people with mental health issues to recover and re-enter stable housing and community living arrangements where they may pursue fulfilling lives. The District collectorate, Krishnagiri, The Banyan, Department of Health and Family welfare, Government of Tamil Nadu and local partner Rural Development Council (RDC – An Organization that enables lasting change in Health, Education, and livelihood of Dalit, Adivasi women and children since 2002) has joined hands to set up Emergency Care and Recovery Centre at Old Government Hospital, Krishnagiri. This would be a 20 bedded facility that facilitates psycho social care. On July 3rd Ms. K.M. Sarayu, IAS, District Collector, officially launched the ECRC operations at Krishnagiri.

MISSION
Enabling access to health and mental health care for persons living in poverty and homelessness through comprehensive and creative clinical and social care approaches embedded in a wellbeing paradigm. The needs of those who live in the margins are our collective responsibility.
FUNCTIONS OF ECRC
- Street based outreach – 250 outreach done from the past seven months.
- The team done 32 CTI from the past seven months.
- Four community outreach done by the team
- Skill development and Vocational training are given to the clients like Yoga, Health education, Art therapy, Reading books, Gauze pad making, Occupational therapy, Dance therapy and Culinary art therapy.
- The team celebrated Independence Day, Republic day, Mental health day and celebrating festivals Vinayagar chathurthi, onam, Saraswathi Pooja, Diwali, Christmas, Newyear, Pongal with the clients.
- The team members went outing with the clients’ places alike Children Park, movies, visited church, Murugar temple and Dharga.
- K.M. Sarayu, IAS, District Collector, reintegrated four clients with their families.
- Totally the team done 19 reintegration all the clients are reintegrated with their family members.
