Youth Empowerment
Equipping tribal youth and adolescent girls with the skills, knowledge, and leadership to transform their communities.
Investing in the Next Generation
Tribal youth possess the potential to drive significant economic and social change within their communities. However, they often face challenges such as lack of guidance, limited educational opportunities, and the risk of exploitative labour practices like the "Sumangali Thittam".
RDC's youth programs focus on sensitization, leadership development, and vocational training to empower young boys and girls to become independent, responsible citizens.
Our Key Initiatives
Adolescent Girls' Rights
Comprehensive education on rights, health, hygiene, and reproductive health. We actively campaign against child marriage and prevent girls from falling prey to camp labour schemes in textile industries.
Village Youth Committees
We have formed 10 village-level youth committees (Thenkani Federation) that serve as platforms for young people to voice their needs, monitor village development, and develop leadership skills.
Vocational Training
Providing skill-based training (e.g., machine repairing) for school dropouts to ensure they have sustainable livelihood options within their locality.
Impact
- 10,300+ youths participated in village-level youth committees.
- Thenkani Federation: A strong network of youth leaders advocating for community rights.
- 50% Reduction: Significant decrease in girls joining exploitative camp labour schemes due to our awareness campaigns.
